Benchtop In Situ Measurement of Full Adsorption Isotherms by NMR

چکیده
Physisorption using gas or vapor probe molecules is the most common characterization technique for porous materials. The method provides textural information on adsorbent as well affinity a specific adsorbate, typically through equilibrium pressure measurements. Here, we demonstrate how low-field NMR can be used to measure full adsorption isotherms, and by selectively measuring 1H spins of adsorbed molecules, rather than those in phase, this “NMR-relaxorption” insights about local dynamics beyond what learned from physisorption alone. potential double-barreled approach was illustrated set microporous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). For methanol ZIF-8, identifies multiple guest populations assigned MeOH clusters pore center, bound at cage windows defect sites. UiO-66(Zr), sequential filling demonstrated accurate topologies are directly obtained, MIL-53(Al), structural phase transitions accurately detected linked with two dimeric chemical species localized positions framework.

Water adsorption isotherms of lipids.
Hydration of bilayer lipids is a fundamental property of biological membranes. The available database of lipid hydration isotherms is fitted over the entire range of water activities by using a statistical mechanical approach that is an extension of the common Brunauer-Emmett-Teller model, to include differential energies of association for water molecules beyond the first strongly bound layer....
متن کاملAnalysis of nanostructured porous films by measurement of adsorption isotherms with optical fiber and ellipsometry.
An optical method to determine the nanostructure and the morphology of porous thin films is presented. This procedure is based on the response of a side-polished optical fiber with the film under study, when an adsorption-desorption cycle is carried out. Spectroscopic ellipsometry provides additional information about the optical properties and adsorption behavior of the film. Pore size distrib...

Madrid, L. and De Arambarri, P., 1978. Adsorption isotherms and hysteresis of proton adsorption by goethite. Geoderma, 21: 199-208. The adsorption of H+ions by goethite is only partially reversible and the adsorption process is faster than desorption. The adsorptian isotherm shows two inflexion points at pH y,alues 7.5 and 9.5, which can be attributed to the existence of two ar more types of OH...
متن کاملTemperature Dependence of Hydrogen Adsorption Isotherms
In the past it has already been shown that adsorption isotherms of liquid or solid lms are not described completely by the Frenkel Halsey Hill theory. Substrate roughness as well as thermal uctuations have to be taken into account in understanding the adsorption behavior. The inclusion of thermal uctuations into the adsorption theory has already been addressed and proven to provide an explanati...
متن کاملSimple Methods for Measuring Total Oil Content by Benchtop NMR
Low-resolution time domain nuclear magnetic resonance (TD-NMR) is an internationally recognized and commercially important analytical tool for measuring the oil content in oilseeds and oilseed residues. It is commonly employed as a simultaneous determination of oil and moisture content, as in ISO 10565 or AOCS Ak 495. Because the method is very fast, compared with oven drying to determine moist...
